Background

 

MEDINNOALL: Mediterranean Innovation Alliance

 

Description: 

The MEDINNOALL project aims at promoting innovative thinking into the Higher Education institutions of the MEDA region and to enhance universities' ability for encouraging and conducting collaboration with their economic environments enhancing the culture of innovation. In this context, the project promotes the convergence with the European Higher education policies, most notably, by addressing the objectives of the Bologna and Lisbon processes, where enhancing universities’ contribution to the national and regional economic and innovation performance is among the most topical issues.

 

Partners: 

The MEDINNOALL project consortium is comprised of 5 EU partners (including 4 universities and one chamber of commerce), 12 higher education institutions from 4 countries in the MEDA region (Algeria, Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia), 4 business associations from these same countries, and counts with the support of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, the Ministry of Education of Morocco and the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Technology of Tunisia.

 

Results: 

As a result of the MEDINNOALL project, the following innovative elements will be implemented at 12 PC universities:

  • Institutional Implementation of 12 Excellence centres in Knowledge Transfer
  • Creation of a cadre of Knowledge Transfer professionals with sufficient administrative, managerial and operational knowledge to support Knowledge Transfer processes among universities and enterprises
  • Development of knowledge, resources and services for the continuous mapping and analysis of the technological potential, research capacities and generation of technological learning processes within universities and their regional economic environments
  • Development of strategies and instruments for a continuous promotion of innovation and entrepreneurship within universities communities and increase of visibility and knowledge about research and technological capacities within the universities and their outside world
  • Implementation of a platform for a supra-national exchange of best-practices, political and economic lobbying concerning Knowledge Transfer and Innovation support in the region able to contribute to the creation of the Euro-Mediterranean Innovation Space.

 

Targets: 

In total the MEDINNOALL project aims at the involvement of the following stakeholders:

  • Top level management from the participating universities
  • The academic, research and students’ community of the participating universities
  • The future employees of the Knowledge Transfer Excellence Centers
  • Representatives from business associations
  • Local and regional enterprises
  • Indirect involvement of political decision-makers, Ministries of Education and Science, national funding agencies and regional adminsitrations
